Ross Mathis 2034 South Fircrest Avenue Coupeville, WA 98239 (360) 678-5898 Ross Mathis became interested in doing science fiction illustration in the early '50s. He was greatly inspired by the outstanding artwork being done by Edd Cartier for ASTOUNDING SCIENCE FICTION (now ANALOG) and other science fiction magazines of the time. He has had three color illustrations published in AMAZING STORIES. He also displays and sells his works, both originals and prints, at many of the Northwest science fiction conventions. Ross considered his four-year sojourn in Australia from 1961 to 1965 to be a major highlight of his life. The first three years of this stay were spent living in a Volkswagen van and traveling extensively over the continent and Tasmania, supporting himself by working as a bricklayer. He lives and works in his home on Whidbey Island in the Puget Sound, Washington, with his wife and a villainous male cat. He and his wife are proud and loving parents of two college-attending daughters, ages 20 and 22.
